We just made 8 years of wedding bliss!!! Wow! It seems like yesterday we just go married, actually it feels just like yesterday we met each other at a local bar. Yes, I said a bar. And, no I was not a hootchie. Just having fun!!! LOL

I can't wait to see what the next 8 years and beyond have to offer.

Valentine's Day 2008

I really don't get too excited about Valentine's Day. Not that I am not romantic, or love David & Anna or my family and friends, but I just think it is silly that everyone feels obligated to buy something for someone that they really don't want or spend all this money for nothing. Yes, it means something, but what about the rest of the year and your life.

In the next breath, you could look at it as a reminder of your love to others, generosity and thoughtfulness for the rest of the year. I do want to blog the saying on my gift from David. It is a beautiful matted & framed cross picture with the saying:

Be Encouraged

"For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jeremiah 29:11

PLASTY!!!

Let's just say David is being a great patient. I really thought it would be a little more stressful, don't get me wrong, it was and still is, but I thought it would be worse. I joke and tell him that he has had more plastic surgery than me... We went in at 6:30 yesterday morning and his surgery and recovery were over at 10:00. He did great in surgery, but had a set back during recovery because the anesthisa made him sick. The doctor said it was more severe than he thought from the xray and it was a good thing David did not put it off any longer. His deviated septum looked like the letter "W" and he had a lot of calcium built up along the sides from a previous break when he was younger. The doctor said that most of his patients have 5 stiches after surgery, but David has 18. Ouch!!!! His recovery will now be longer, about 2 weeks before he can do anything manual. We stayed in the hospital until 1 and have been home since. Besides his pain medicine, he has not taken anything else and really has been good.

You know when you are put under you always wander what you may say, well there is one comment worth blogging from David:

As we are leaving the valet at the hospital, the car in front of us was taking FOREVER and we could not get around. The lady (a little rounded and kind of hippy) driving was taking care of her patient and gets in on her side and out of David's mouth was:

Boy Allison, that is what you call some hips... All I could do was laugh.

A note about Anna, she is so caring with her Daddy. When we walked in the door she started crying and really cared about her dad. It was so sweet and at the same time so sad. All she wanted was her dad to pick her up, but he can't for 2 weeks. She just stands at the side of the couch and pats him and talks to him to cheer him up. It is amazing that a 16 month old can sympathize at such a young age.

BTW- David would not let me put any pictures on the blog... Boy, they would be great blackmail.

Update

Well, she slept in her bed until 10:30... Just as I dozed off she started screaming bloody murder. I tried to console her and get her to go back to sleep, but it was too hard. I knew I had to go to work this morning, so I picked her up and put her in bed with me. I know, I should not have done that, but I did. I will try again tonight. Wish me luck.

Sleep, Sleep, Sleep

Ok, I am sitting here listening to Anna cry, cry, cry, because tonight I decided to put her in her own bed. Yes, she is 16 months old and still sleeps with us. We were doing good until we moved and has been in the bed with us since. I am part of the problem (and her dad, eventhough he does not want to admit it) because I love her in our bed. She sleeps so well and never wakes up. If she does, she is right there and we don't have to get out of bed. Well, it is time for her to sleep in her own bed.

Now, she is crying so hard she sounds like she is going to make herself sick. I am going to try the method of going in every 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc, until she puts herself to sleep.

The reason I picked tonight to start is because David is having surgery Wed and I know he will want to be in his bed, but would not be able to if Anna was in it also. He is having sinus surgery, deviated septum, etc done.

Ok, it is time to go in and console. This is really getting bad. Say a prayer for us over the next few nights.

American Idol

So, what does everyone think of this season's American Idol? The talent is so much better than previous years and I am excited to watch the next few shows to see who is in the top ten. Does anyone have a favorite?

RODEO ANNA

We took Anna to her first rodeo this weekend. She LOVED it!!! and she is not scared of anything. Loved the "moo" cows, pigs and horses. I think we have a country girl on our hands. I hope her daddy is ready for riding lessons...

Mardi Gras 2008

I know I am in Louisiana again, because I have off tomorrow, Tuesday, for Mardi Gras!!!! Here are some pictures from our last 2 Mardi Gras Balls. The first ball was a costume ball, a jungle/safari theme. The second ball was a formal ball held at the local casino.

Enjoy the pictures!!!

New Milestones

Anna has a few new milestones we have completed!!!! I say we, because we have a been a part of each of them.

Sign Language- She has been watching her "sign language" DVD since she was 6 months old and she is now starting to pick it up. Her favorite sign this week is "potty" (which is our next milestone I will get to). Here is a list of "signs" she has mastered:
Daddy
Dog
Fish
Eat
Banana
Milk
Cracker
Baby
Bath
Potty
Shoe
More
All Done

We are starting on Volume 2, which entails manners and taking care of yourself. Wish us luck.

Big Girl Potty- Anna has decided to teach herself to use the big girl potty. This past weekend she "poo poo'd" twice and " t-t'd" once. For a 15 month old, I was so excited and so surprised. This is not something I have even thought of doing, but really started because Anna stands at the toilet and "signs" potty. I would sit her on the potty to acknowledge her sign language and now she is actually potting. I told her daycare teacher this morning and she said Anna watches all the kids go to the potty. Looks like she does not want to be left out or let someone out do her... I guess she gets it honestly. LOL
