Poppie

I was not going to write about this, but it really has been a hard week so I need to put it down. My 80 year old grandfather, Poppie, died suddenly of a massive heart attack Tuesday night. As he was preparing to cook dinner for my grandmother, as he always did every night, he fell to the floor and died instantly. It was a peaceful death, because he did not suffer and was not sick. For an 80 year old man, he never took an asprin or cold medicine. He was so healthy, that he was a donor and the doctor's were able to harvest bones and ligaments from his body. That made my grandmother very happy. On the note of my grandmother, things will be difficult. She is in the early stages of alzheimers and sometimes forgets he passed away and when we remind her, she has to relive the shock over and over. Please pray for her, because she will have some rough times. My parents are going to take her in until we can figure out what we can do to take care of her. I want to put down some of the things I remember about my "POPPIE" and some of the things my grandmother has said over the last few days:

POPPIE

Choke Jobs- Which made my mom very nervous, but we thought it was so funny.
Cous Cous and Milk with Sugar- Our favorite breakfast meal
Coffee Milk- The strongest coffee with ALOT of REAL sugar and milk
Drawing- He taught me how to draw when I was a very little girl, he loved to sketch
Gardening- He had a huge garden with the best vegetables and fruit. He even planted my own strawberry plants just for me. We would pick the figs straight from the tree and eat them raw. They were the best figs and strawberries ever grown.

Daddy, Daddy, Daddy

Today was a great day! We all went back to work and Anna went back to "school". She acted like she never missed a beat, which is great! I just have to say I LOVE her teachers and the school she is in. It has made going back to work part time so much easier. Ever since David went back to work after a long vacation, Anna has been spoiled to all the attention she was getting while her Dad was home. So, everyone she sees she calls DADDY. At first it was funny and cute until today at the grocery store she spotted this old, nasty man and called him DADDY! I felt like running and hiding down the other aisle. Not only did she say it, she said it loud enough for him to hear, so I had to pretend it was cute. Not thinking (you all know the big mouth I can have and my mouth seems to say things sometimes before I can think), I said "That is not your Daddy, Who'se your daddy!!!" LOL

Merry Christmas (Belated) and Happy New Year!!!

2008!!! Wow, I can rememeber going out to a party for 2000 thinking the world was going to be so different, or as other people thought, the end of the world. Well, 8 years later it is the best thing. I have been sitting and thinking of the next year and hope it is a great, fullfilling and prosperous year for our families and all of our friends.

Christmas was wonderful this year having Anna around. She was such a joy watching interact with all of our families, friends and even strangers. (That is another story...) She was spoiled as expected, but we have been good about teaching her early to enjoy the holidays and the REAL meaning.

Christmas Eve was a different story. We spent it in the ER with Anna. She had CROUP again. At 1:45am I could not take it anymore, so we drove to the hospital for a steroid and Dr. assesment. Everything is fine, but it really made for a late Santa morning.

She loves all of her toys and really loves her outside playgym and cookie jar she got from her Aunt Mary and Uncle Evan.

New Year's went as planned. A night of food and fireworks at some friends with all the babies. This year was a little different, the grand finale was at 8:45... lol. Anna liked the colorful lights from the firework, but did not like the boom.

She is such a a chatter box. We are having to watch what we say in front of her. I have said a few things that she has repeated and really embarrased me. I think I will have a talker on my hands. I am very impressed with what a 15 month old can say.

Anna also is starting to use her sign language we have been showing her since she was 6 months old. Her favorites are , baby, cracker, eat, milk and bath. She is now starting to do potty and flushing the toilet. Maybe that is a good sign.

She also has an attitude, which I blame on her dad. LOL She fusses at us all the time and tells us NO all the time. Getting dressed and putting her hair up is now a very big challenge.

Here are some pictures to showcase our holidays:
