Wow. I'm speechless and so sorry. ((hugs))

Andrew went back yesterday and the state is going to waive the make up days. But it looks like it'll be quite a while before you get to go back... probably too many days to waive.

Actually we should be back in school within the next 20 days (not school days, but consecutive week days). We would should have been in school next week or so, but they found asbestos when the floor tiles starting popping up, so that was a set back. We are going to combine the two schools where I was teaching so I will not have to commute back and forth. After Rita, Louisiana waived our make up days and we are hoping they will do the same again. If not, it should not be too bad, we will have to go some Fridays nad they will take away so holidays and a a few more minutes every day. The State could waive partial days, which would be great too. Except, it is going to be like we are starting school all over again, we have been out more than we have been in school.

We are really starting to clean up, but it is still sad. Especially in the areas where the families were so poor and still had nothing from Rita.

Talk to you later

Ugh, that's horrible. I can only imagine how difficult clean up must be. I'll be thinking about you guys.

Curious - will you have to make up the missed school days?

We will have to make up some. We are not sure yet of all the details. Hopefully the State will waive some days. We only go 4 days a week now, so one option is to go some weeks 5 days and add a few more minutes per day. We are waiting on a specific answer.
